Pretty excited to publish this one because it’s probably the biggest moment in my life so far. Well, not probably, definitely.

I’m going to start this post from the beginning, but I promise it will be quick and hopefully not painful.

Brett and I grew up in the same town, went to the same high school, and lived literally about 5 miles apart our entire lives. He is 6 years older than me, so unfortunately I missed him at his prime (just kidding, babe)!  My older brother, who was closer in age to him, played sports on the same team as him in high school. I’d go watch their games, braces on my teeth, frizz in my hair, tall/skinny hadn’t quite come into myself yet, and crush on him as he dominated the field with all of the beautiful high school girls watching next to me. It’s kind of like the underdog coming out on top type of story for me, no?

Ok, so you get the point. Let’s fast forward to my senior year in college…

I was sitting in my college house browsing, and noticed it was his birthday on Facebook. He posted a photo of himself visiting his sister in San Diego, riding a bike down a road lined with palm trees. I still to this day am not sure if it were the palm trees that caught my attention, or him, but I sent birthday wishes. He was turning 27 at this time F.Y.I. In a 21 year old’s world that was reallllly old, so I didn’t think much of it.. Being honest!

He responded immediately referring to me as “beautiful”…. I finally felt old enough for him, haha.

We hung out when he got back from California, and we’ve been living together ever since.

Since then, we’ve moved to a different state, moved into 3 different apartments, experienced both death and new life together, and he’s still here! So, for all of my family members that have blessed him–they’re working!

Ok, so back to the engagement–

The engagement was a HUGE surprise for me. I thought I was going to a business meeting ( he knew the only way he could trick me was with work). I walked onto the rooftop deck with my boss, and immediately the waitress handed me a cell phone (see photo above). I was sooo confused and saw my dad’s face on the screen of a video waiting to be played. I hit the play button and it was Brett asking my dad if he could marry me. My dad did not know he was being filmed by the way, so the reaction was so candid and honestly priceless.

Brett then came out of nowhere and got down on one knee. Don’t ask me what he said because I honestly couldn’t tell you. Both of our families were there and witnessed the whole thing. It was so amazing, I still can’t believed he pulled it off.

I love hanging out with him. I love his family. I love him.

He truly makes me a better person in every regard, and is constantly supporting me to be the best version of myself. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

Now I need to get back to wedding planning ahhhhhhh…oh by the way, how about this picture of my dad and I….can you even stand it? So many emotions.

We are getting married on 12.30.18– There will be soooo many wedding planning posts to come!

Thanks for reading this very mushy post, you all rock!
